McClure Solid In Announcing Debut

Driver Bob McClure remained cool under pressure tonight with a tough field in his announcing debut on ‘From Bike To Mic’.

McClure was Grand River Raceway’s newest guest announcer during its Fun & Frivolity Friday Night card.

Race seven’s flow was interrupted with a break in stride at the first quarter marker. Prolocomotion was sitting second along the rail at the time and his miscue scattered the field. Driver Scott Coulter brought the pacer under control as the rest of the reinsmen also skillfully maneuvered through the jam without incident. McClure showed equal control from his spot atop the grandstand, never missing a beat in his call.

Sturgeon Seelster and Dan Clements were the eventual winners in a new lifetime best of 1:57.3 for trainer Gregg McNair and owners Lindsey and Connie Rankin.

McClure entered tonight’s announcing debut with five driving wins the night before at Hanover Raceway. The Orangeville resident is a career winner of 170 races and $1.1 million. He’s currently ranked fifth in the Hanover Raceway dash standings, and is on the cusp of the top ten for the first time at Grand River Raceway.

McClure’s call of race seven from July 6 can be seen in the video below:

The next guest announcer on ‘From Bike To Mic’ will be announced on Wednesday.

Racing continues Monday at 7:05 p.m.
