National Caretaker Appreciation Day Returns

2025 National Caretaker Appreciation Day event dates
Published: July 6, 2025 11:00 am EDT

Standardbred Canada is excited to announce that National Caretaker Appreciation Day (NCAD) events will return to racetracks starting on July 27 and continuing through Nov. 10. Specific racetrack partners and event dates will be announced soon.

In previous years, owners, trainers, drivers, breeders and other industry members have supported this event, recognizing the importance of acknowledging our industry's unsung heroes.

In addition to the racetrack events, trainers, training centres, breeding farms, owners and drivers are encouraged to participate and show their appreciation to their caretakers, whether they're paddocking at the track or working at the farm or training centre.

Here are some ways to show your gratitude:

  • Bring refreshments like coffee, doughnuts or muffins to the stable.
  • Host a stable BBQ or arrange for a catered lunch.
  • Offer a paid day off or a bonus.
  • Give a 'thank you' card with a gift card.
  • Purchase a winning photo of one of the horses they care for after its next victory.

If you're interested in supporting this program through sponsorship or donations, please contact your local participating racetrack or Justin Fisher at Standardbred Canada.

The Faces of Racing series will continue this year. Since its inception in 2018, this series has highlighted the stories of 45 caretakers from across the country. If you have a caretaker you'd like to see featured, please email Justin Fisher.

When sharing photos or content for NCAD on social media, please remember to use the event hashtag #NCAD2025.
