Black Tie Bash added another victory in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot to his resume at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (July 6) evening.

Robert Shepherd was in the bike of the bettors' choice as they went to the gate from post six in the field of seven. Black Tie Bash sat third through the quarter in :28.1, half in :57.3, and three-quarters in 1:26.1 before making a move in the final turn. After a battle down the stretch with pocket-sitter Gettin Serious (Guy Gagnon), Black Tie Bash prevailed by a length in 1:56.2. Crossfit (Marie-Claude Auger) finished third.

Black Tie Bash is no stranger to the top class and no stranger to the winner's circle at that. The five-year old Chapter Seven gelding has had five starts this season, all in the Preferred Handicap at Rideau, with four wins and one third. The Isabelle Darveau trainee has a record of 22-10-10 in 68 career starts to go along with $177,608 in lifetime earnings.
