Dave Menary trainee Shesa Sweetheart broke the two-minute barrier on Friday morning’s (July 6) qualifying session at Woodbine Mohawk Park, leading all juvenile trotters with a 1:59.4 effort in rein to Jody Jamieson.
The debuting daughter of Royalty For Life and Andover The Top wasted no time when the gates sprung, sprinting clear from post 5 and maintain separation of the field through splits of :30, :59.4 and 1:30.1 before scooting away to a 5-1/4 length margin of victory over the aptly-named Father Patrick filly Confession Session (Matthew Bax) with a :29.3 closing sectional.

On the pacing side of the ledger, second-time qualifier Keystone Concrete took top honours, mounting a three-wide rally off the home turn to just nail Macs Power in 1:56.1. Rick Zeron angled the son of Bettors Delight and Keystone Caitlyn three-wide around pacesetter Big Kiz (Doug McNair) and Macs Power (Sylvain Filion) with a quarter to go, and then surged through a :27 closing quarter to prevail by a head.
