Tells On A Roll reprised her starring role in the $36,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, July 5.
A winner of half a dozen distaff Preferreds through the first four months of the year, Tells On A Roll returned to her winning ways at the mid-season mark for the mother and son training and driving team of Jodie and Travis Cullen.
Tells On A Roll led the field of six through fractions of :27.3, :56.2 and 1:24.1 while turning back first-over challenger So Much More (Bob McClure) en route to a season's best 1:50.4 victory over the 'good' track. Prohibition Legal (Louis-Philippe Roy) finished 1-1/4 lengths behind in second off a pocket trip while the rest of the field battled it out for third with a from-last Caviar N Crackers (Ed Hensley) getting up to show in the four-across finish.
Returning to action following a notable fourth-place showing facing Grand Circuit stakes mares in the Roses Are Red on June 15, Tells On A Roll was sent postward as the even-money favourite and paid $4.30 to win.
Owned by Travis Cullen's A1stable and his father Ron along with their partner Paul Sanders, the four-year-old Tellitlikeitis-Have Rock Willroll mare improved her seasonal record to 7-2-2 from 12 starts, good for nearly $175,000 in earnings. She now boasts 16 career wins and a bankroll totalling $522,486.
