On the heels of a five-win performance at Dresden Raceway last Sunday, Nick Steward stole the show at Hiawatha Horse Park on Saturday night (July 4) earning another five victories.
Steward kicked off his winning crusade by sweeping the early Daily Double with the Jack Wray-trained St Lads Flirt ($5.50) and Taylorlane Fancy ($3.80) for Gordon McDonnell. Steward's next win came in the sixth race aboard Passionate Pete ($5.70) for trainer Allan Steeves and he was right back in the winner's circle after a triumphant outing in the following race with Todd Kennedy's Major Herbie ($3.90). Steward also won the 10th race finale with Arlo Gram ($7) to complete the McDonnell stable's perfect night at the track.
Steward has won 125 races so far this year to crack Canada's top 10 driver standings. The 24-year-old reinsman has earned 19 of his wins at Hiawatha to top the track's local leaderboard.
