OLG Slots at Hanover Raceway unveiled a new and improved look by welcoming customers to a refreshed and updated gaming floor in an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, July 4.

OLG Slots at Hanover Raceway introduced a modernized gaming floor including 54 new slot machines and two electronic table games. Town of Hanover officials including Her Worship Kathi Maskell, Mayor, Mike Dunlop, CAO, and Don Tedford, Director of Planning & Development, as well as representatives from the Hanover Raceway joined OLG officials for the ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

“Our strong partnership with Hanover Raceway gave us the perfect opportunity to expand and modernize our amenities, allowing us to continue providing a great gaming experience for our patrons,” said Spencer Parazader, General Manager of OLG Slots at Hanover Raceway, via an OLG news release.

OLG Slots at Hanover Raceway has introduced two new electronic table games -- poker and roulette -- adding community-play action to the gaming floor. These electronic games use the same rules and game play experience as regular poker and roulette, but instead of a dealer, each hand or spin is initiated by an automated attendant using the most advanced gaming technology available.

“The user-friendly electronic games allow players to play against each other or the computer, offering increased variety for our customers,” said Parazader.

In addition to the improvements at the slots facility, Hanover Raceway has been completing renovations to the track side of operations.

“The newly expanded The Coach House Restaurant, race simulcast, washroom areas and other renovated facilities will provide a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for our customers,” said Gord Dougan, General Manager of Hanover Raceway.

Hanover Raceway's 50th anniversary season began on Saturday, June 7 and live harness racing continues tonight with the Ontario Sires Stakes hitting Hanover for the first time this season featuring three-year-old trotting colts in Grassroots action -- many of which are eligible to Hanover's Dream Of Glory eliminations later this month.

As part of the OSS 40th anniversary celebrations, OSS ball caps will be distributed to handicapping contest players at the sign-in table. Fans may also enjoy 300 special OSS cupcakes, rides in the starting car and a special OSS 40th anniversary t-shirt toss.

The Hanover program includes a Survivor Ballot where fans are asked to pick four horses in races five through eight that they think will finish in the money. If fans are correct they will earn an entry into the Survivor handicapping contest final on August 9. The last survivor on the final night will win a giant high definition television, courtesy of Country 93 radio.

It's also Ladies Night at the track tonight as ladies can enter to win one of several prizes, courtesy of The Flower Shoppe and Greenhouses in Hanover, My Scissors and I, and Hanover Raceway.

First race post time is 7:15 p.m.
