Barrie resident Mark Etsell will send out a pair of hopefuls when the two-year-old pacing fillies return to Georgian Downs on Tuesday, July 9 for their second Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots event.
Kiss Me Or Not will line up on the outer half of the starting gate for the second straight week in the first $12,857 division. The Mach Three daughter drew Post 7 in the season opener at Georgian Downs on July 2 and finished sixth in one of the fastest divisions. This Tuesday she gets Post 8 alongside five other fillies that battled in the season opener and two making their debuts in round two.
Etsell trains and drives Kiss Me Or Not for owner-breeder David Snowden of Bowmanville. The filly is the third daughter of Snowden’s broodmare Kissing Rain to start in the Ontario Sires Stakes program.
Snowden also bred and owns Etsell’s second entry, An Angel Shes Not. Tuesday’s test will be the filly’s first lifetime start and she heads into the event off a runner-up finish in qualifying action at Georgian Downs on June 29. Unfortunately, the daughter of Jeremes Jet and Arms Of An Angel will also be hampered by an outside post, landing Post 8 in the third division.
Three division winners from the July 2 season opener will make a second appearance at the Innisfil oval, including Murray Brethour trainees Catwoman and Murrayfield. The Sunderland resident will send out Catwoman from Post 4 in the fourth division and Murrayfield from Post 4 in the fifth. The other winner, Ramblin Rose, will take aim on her second straight victory from Post 3 in the sixth split.
The two-year-old pacing fillies will raise the curtain on Georgian Downs’ Tuesday, July 9 program at 7:25 p.m. and will also show off their growing skills in Races 3, 5, 6, 9, 10 and 11.
