Since returning from to the races in 2012 claiming mare Mcgain N Mcgain has been unbeatable, and on Thursday night at Mohawk Racetrack she kept the ball rolling by front-stepping to her sixth win of the year in as many tries.
The five-year-old daughter of Mcardle-Onceagain, who went 2-for-2 to start the season for former trainer Casie Coleman before being claimed, is now 4-for-4 since becoming a resident in the stable of trainer Jamie Copley.
Mcgain N Mcgain was claimed for $12,500 on June 7, and following three victories at Rideau Carleton Raceway her connections opted to try her against Mohawk Racetrack foes. She got away second in Thursday’s assignment, but Randy Waples brushed her to the lead in the backstretch and proceeded to carve out middle splits of :54.1 and 1:23 before using a :29-second final frame to seal the deal in 1:52.
Saverino and Graziano Spagnolo of Ottawa, ON share ownership on the 18-time winner who has banked more than $187,000 to date.
