Yellow Diamond To Debut Thursday

Yellow Diamond, the 2009 O'Brien Award finalist for Three-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year, has been entered to make her first pari-mutuel start of the 2010 racing season

Trainer Paul Reid has entered the four-year-old Western Terror mare to contest Chester Racetrack's $28,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace which is to take place Thursday, July 8 at the Pennsylvania raceway.

Off a season in which she won 14 of 22 starts, multiple stakes and over $1.3 million in earnings, Yellow Diamond has qualified three times so far this season. Her first two qualifying efforts -- both over Pocono Downs -- saw her finish second, as she paced in 1:56.1 and 1:54.2, respectively.

Yellow Diamond's third qualifier of the season, which came over Chester, was a wire-to-wire win in 1:52.1.

Only six distaffers will go behind the gate for the Open, which has been carded as Race 12 on the 14-dash docket.

The field will also include the Lou Pena-trained Delightful Diva (Post 4, G. Napolitano, Jr.) and the Ron Burke-conditioned Mid Western Jatelo (Post 6, Y. Gingras).

Yellow Diamond has drawn Post 2 and Reid has listed Tim Tetrick to perform the driving duties.
