Brandon Campbell put the stallion on the front twice, muscling him out of post five early before releasing Kissinger (Drew Campbell) nearing the quarter in :27.3 and circling that opponent in front of the stands. Betterontherox then took heat from De La Cruz (Mike Hennessy), who rocketed up first-over and raced a head in front at the half in :58.3. Betterontherox inched away from the attacker down the backstretch, taking a 1-1/2-length lead to three-quarters in 1:27.4, then prepared himself to defend from pocket-sitting Kissinger. The Rebecca Kanak trainee had plenty left in the tank to resist that foe and got to the line a three-quarter-length winner in 1:57. Nacho Nacho Man (Phil Giesbrecht) completed the ticket.
Betterontherox is seven-for-nine since making his debut in April and is on a five-race win streak for owner Trevor Williams of Landmark, Man. The son of Winds Of Change-G Ts Jamie has earned $20,750. He paid $2.50 in the latest victory.
