The Jessie Pacheco-trained and Lemoyne Svendsen-driven Delightfully Wild ($7.20) captured Running Aces’ $11,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace on Tuesday night (July 3), after the five-year-old Bettors Delight went wire-to-wire from Post 5 in a life’s best 1:52.
The public’s choice, Whatitdo BabyBoo (driven by Steve Wiseman), attempted to close on the victress from the backfield, but couldn’t catch her nemisis, and had to settle for second, two lengths in arrears. Post 6 starter Kiss On The Lips (Nick Roland), who was forwardly placed early, finished another three quarters of a length back in third.
Delightfully Wild is owned by Richard Morita and David Yamada. The victory was the ninth of her 2018 campaign and the 20th of her career.
The track’s 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot has a carryover of $2,380.42 heading into the Saturday night (July 7) program. On Sunday (July 8), Running Aces will host the eliminations for the $95,000 Dan Patch Free-For-All Pacing Series, which is sponsored by Watch and Wager. The top five finishers from each elimination will advance to the Dan Patch Preview Pace (July 15) and the $50,000 Dan Patch FFA Final (July 22).
