Rookies continue to learn their early lessons at Mohawk Racetrack, and Tuesday’s card saw Ghost Dance break his maiden – much to the delight of the majority of the betting public.
Sent off as the 3-5 favourite in the $14,000 affair, Ghost Dance got away third for Randy Waples before making a move to the lead as soon as the field hit the backstretch. Ghost Dance cleared to the top and cruised through middle fractions of :58.3 and 1:27.3. A :27.4 closing quarter helped earn the rookie the win in 1:55.2 over Phantom Seelster and Cheese Melt.
Eric Adams trains the homebred son of American Ideal for Millar Farms of Stouffville, Ont. The colt is the first foal out of the multiple O.S.S.-winning mare, Epoxy Queen (1:51.4 - $156,705).
