OSS 2YOPCs To Mohawk Monday

Ontario’s exciting two-year-old pacing colts will be back in action at Mohawk Racetrack on Monday, July 8 in their second Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series leg.

The first two $52,500 divisions are crowded with colts that have already found their way to the Mohawk winner’s circle. Arthur Blue Chip and driver Jody Jamieson of Moffat recorded the fastest mile in the Gold Series season opener and will be looking for a second stellar performance from Post 4 in the first division. Dr. Ian Moore of Guelph and his partners in the Shadow One stable acquired the Shadow Play colt, a half-brother to $1.5-million winner Kenneth J, for $135,000 from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale.

Hoping to prevent Arthur Blue Chip’s repeat are Campbellville resident Chris Christoforou and Mach Three colt P L Hellcat, who will line up at Post 7 in search of their second Gold Series win, and Guelph resident Doug McNair aboard Grassroots division winner On The Big Swing, who will start from Post 8.

Two races later, Grassroots winners Crafty Master, Western Fella and Reasonable Force will go head to head from Posts 2, 3, and 9. McNair will be aboard Crafty Master, Guelph resident Paul MacDonell will steer Western Fella, who was the quickest of the Grassroots winners, and Billy Davis Jr. of Cambridge will pilot Reasonable Force.

Following the wide open third division, Shadowbriand will be looking for another golden performance from Post 3 in the eleventh race. The Shadow Play son, a $10,000 purchase in Harrisburg, is owned and trained by Cambridge resident Jack Darling. Jody Jamieson will back in the race bike.

The two-year-old pacing colts battle in Races 5, 7, 9, and 11 on Mohawk Racetrack’s Monday evening program, which gets underway at 7:25 p.m.
