Demon Onthe Hill trotted to a new mark of 1:54.3 in the $16,000 featured event on Wednesday (July 31) at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
Tim Tetrick, posting another five winners on the day, settled the Muscle Hill colt in third behind pacesetter Klutzy and favourite Nextroundsonme. Demon Onthe Hill angled outside late on the backstretch to go after the leader after Nextroundsonme started to gap, and ultimately finished briskly to win by 3-3/4 lengths for Vicky Trotting Inc. and trainer Marcus Melander.
The imperially-bred son of Muscle Hill and Moni Maker, the four-year-old American Moni, broke maiden in 1:55.4. American Moni and Andy Miller strung the field out, looked to be in a bit of peril around the far turn when freshman Hell Patrol posed a challenge, but then regained full control when his outside rival broke turning for home. This was the first start for American Moni since teaming with trainer Julie Miller for the Moni Maker Stable.
Another well-bred winner was the Somebeachsomewhere freshman pacing gelding Super Mac, who post eight with a front-end victory in 1:53.2 for Tetrick and trainer Jim Campbell. Super Mac is out of Michelles Power, a talented continuation in a long string of racing and breeding champions for this freshman’s owner, Jeffrey Snyder.
