The names have not been changed to protect the innocent, because the song remains the same.
Cinamony (George Brennan, $4.80) continued her roll Friday night, winning Yonkers Raceway’s $48,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap Pace.
Remanded outside her seven rivals and caught what appeared about 46-wide leaving, the 7-5 choice nonetheless had few issues. They weren’t going all that much early (:28.2, :56.4), as Cinamony—parked just about two turns—eventually pocketed second choice Venus Delight.
After a 1:25 three-quarters, Cinamony owned a length and a half lead into the lane. The final margin was a confidently-driven, half-length in 1:53. Venus Delight chased around the oval, with Skippin By (Brian Sears), Justthaventmetuyet (Jordan Stratton) and Handsoffmycupcake (Dan Dube) getting the minor moolah.
For Cinamony, a four-year-old daughter of Art Official co-owned by trainer Ron Burke (as Burke Racing) and Weaver Bruscemi, it was her seventh win in 11 seasonal starts (six-for-six since hitting town). The exacta paid $13.40, with the triple returning $33.60.
Earlier during the 12-race card, they came this close to a four-way win dead-heat in the $15,500 fourth-race pace. It was No. 1, Art For Arts Sake (Sears), “getting the bob” over No. 7, Dukes Up (Brennan). No. 4, Lucky Terror (Bartlett), was third and No. 3, Lennon Blue Chip (Dube), finished fourth.
