Ecurie Reve Avec Moi had a productive Saturday at more than one North American racetrack
.
Before capturing two Hambletonian Oaks eliminations with three-year-old trotting fillies at the Meadowlands, the stable also won a $15,000 final for Quebec-bred three-year-old pacers at Hippodrome de Quebec with the Shanghai Phil colt Winning Dream.
Driven by Sylvain Lacaille, Winning Dream led all the way in a 1:55.4 mile for his seventh career win in 17 starts.
Reve Avec Moi's entry of Savanah Dream and Nuriev Dream was expected to provide the stable with a second victory on the afternoon, but they were upset in the $15,000 final for Quebec-bred three-year-old trotting fillies by Beer Maggs, who prevailed by a nose in a three-horse photo in 2:02.
Le Senateur AL, a 6-1 chance, knocked off heavy favourite Obama Bayama in the $15,000 final for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings, scoring by a quarter-length in 2:00.2 for trainer/driver Andre Lachance.
But the upset of the day came in the $15,000 final for 3-year-old pacing fillies, when 32-1 shot Miss Toupie Girl and driver Rene Quessy bested Lady Luna by a head in 1:58.4 with heavily-favoured Ferrari Sena fourth. Like Winning Dream, the winner was sired by Shanghai Phil.
Three more $15,000 finals for Quebec-bred trotters and pacers will be presented on Sunday afternoon's card of harness racing at Hippodrome de Quebec.
