Much has changed since the year 2000, when the Y2K transition dominated millennium fears and Tiger Woods was the world’s greatest golfer.
What has remained constant in the ensuing 25 years was the Hambletonian at The Meadowlands unfolded as a spectacular event that featured human and equine stories of all shapes and sizes.
The 100th Anniversary of the Hambletonian: The Race to Glory, a documentary presented by the Hambletonian Society, lays out the champions of America’s Trotting Classic from the year 2000 – when Yankee Paco, Canada’s first Hambletonian-sired champion signalled the entrance of international participation in the race – ending with 2025, when Nordic Catcher S, driven and trained by Swedish Hall of Famer Ake Svanstedt, trotted into the history books as the 100th winner of the storied stakes event.
The 100th edition of the Hambletonian took place on Aug. 2, 2025, and will be the closing feature of a 60-minute retrospective of the brightest jewel in trotting’s Triple Crown to be broadcast on CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 3 p.m.
It will also be streamed on all Hambletonian Society and Meadowlands social media platforms beginning on Sunday, Aug. 2.
