Fresh off a Gold Series win in his mid-July career debut, two-year-old trotter Indy Be Quick dropped down to the Grassroots level for an easy victory in the second leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes on Sunday, July 30 at Georgian Downs.

Indy Be Quick won the first of four $21,800 Grassroots divisions for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings, leading wire-to-wire in 1:59.2 with Sylvain Filion in the bike.

After crossing to command off the gate from the outermost post, Indy Be Quick carved out fractions of :30.1, 1:00.1 and 1:30.1 then stepped away from the competition off the final turn with a :29.1 closing kick. Devils Kiss followed the 1-5 favourite nearly five lengths behind from the pocket while Looks Like Amuscle finished back in third.

Ben Baillargeon trains and co-owns the Alarm Detector-Im A Munchie Girl gelding with Teresa Davidson, Santo Vena and Nunzio Vena.

On the other hand, the Kevin Benn trainee Grenville Heaven jumped up from the Prospect Series off a close runner-up finish to score a maiden-breaking victory in 2:01.3, giving Filion an OSS driving double. Stormont Meadows owns the Archangel-Allerage Belle colt, who defeated pacesetter Alexander by three-quarters of a length off a pocket trip.

Northernchancellor (Muscle Mass-Honor Grad) matched Indy Be Quick's 1:59.2 winning time as co-fastest of the bunch, going from last to first and opening up 2-1/2 lengths in deep stretch with Austin Sorrie between the wheels for trainer Bruce MacDonald and Mardon Sables.

The other division went to Brutalizer (Alarm Detector-Princess Serena), who fought past Charmbro Titan in the final quarter for his first career win in 2:01 with Trevor Henry driving. Kyle Fellows trains the Awesome Acres homebred.
