Christina Johnson and Uriah Miller each won their respective $7,000 Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) splits late Friday (July 29) at the Summit Fair meet at Northfield Park; Johnson with Go Go George in 1:58.1 and Miller with Slated To Win also in 1:58.1.
Despite starting from the eight-hole Johnson settled in third behind two double-digit longshots, Impressive Chief (Darrell Rideout) and Justice Reigns (Melvin Miller), and wisely followed them to the head of the stretch. She then used the passing lane to guide her trotter to the 1:58.1 victory. Rideout's trotter finished second and Miller's horse was third.
Go Go George is owned by Kiesha Ferrari and trained by John Capriotti. He paid $6.20 for the win.
In the other split, Slated To Win started from post seven and was hung by the quarter in :29.1 before taking command. Once on the engine Miller and Slated To Win raced virtually unchallenged to score a 1:58.1 victory over Jogging Sweets (Eddie Miller). Haul N Dash finished third for Daniel Jones.
Slated To Win is owned by Mason Shaw and trained by Cory Kreiser. He paid $5.20 for the win.
