Charging at tempo-setter Sabine Pass through the stretch, Iwontdothatagain edged to victory in the $9,000 Open Pace at Century Downs on Monday, July 30.

Driver Dave Hudon positioned Iwontdothatagain third as Cool Cowboy led briefly to the quarter before Sabine Pass cleared in :28.3. Past the half in :57, Iwontdothatagain angled first over moving to the backstretch and drew within a length of the lead by three-quarters in 1:25.

Sabine Pass kicked to a three-length lead moving into the stretch with Iwontdothatagain chasing in second. The Kelly Hoerdt trainee rode a second wind through the stretch as he recouped lost ground to stick a head in front of Sabine Pass at the wire to win in 1:52.4. Apellate, the favourite, chased from second over for third.

Owned by Hoerdt and Ed Keryliuk, Iwontdothatagain, a seven-year-old gelding by Stonebridge Regal from the D M Dillinger mare Island Nessie, won his fourth race in 13 starts this season and his 27th in 108 overall, earning $198,526. He paid $6.50 to win.
