The harness racing season at The Track On 2 kicked off Sunday (July 3) with David Kelly securing five wins on the nine-race card.
Three of the five victories David Kelly notched were trainees in his stable. The first of which was by Bonus Round, a four-year-old gelding owned by the Pick 6 Stable. Bonus Round won in 2:01 with a last quarter in :27.2 over Gonna Funku Up (Kelly DuCharme) and Promising Flight (Mike Hennessy).
Hf Thegreatpumpkin set up an impressive race to win in 1:58.1 by 7-3/4 lengths over Jessies Girl (Nathan Sobey) and Somepeopleneedtold (Tyson Jacoby). David Kelly, Paul MacDonald, Donald McDougall, and Daniel McDougall own the six-year-old gelding by Pang Shui.
The third trainer/driver victory was claimed by Sunset Rider (pictured above). The four-year-old gelding owned by the Pick 6 Stable controlled the race through fractions of :29.4, :59.4, and 1:30.1 before crossing the wire in 1:58.1, paying $9.10 to win.
His other two victories were with Outlaw Tootsieroll and No Collusion, both trained by Lance Ward.
The handle for the nine-race card was $32,582.
