Running Aces featured a $16,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace during its live program on Tuesday (July 2).
After having been bet down to 20 cents on the dollar, the Tim Maier-trained and Dean Magee-driven Juslikeaqueen paced to a gate-to-wire win from Post 8. The five-year-old daughter of Palone Ranger cut the fractions in :27, :56.2 and 1:24.3 and came home with a :28.1 final quarter. The win time was 1:52.4 and the margin of victory was three and a half lengths.
Juslikeaqueen is the lone mare nominated to Running Aces’ 2019 Dan Patch Free-For-All Pace, which will get underway with elimination races on Sunday, July 14. Juslikeaqueen, who is owned by Antonia Storer, has won 24 of her 88 lifetime races and has banked $274,000 in purses.
A pair of $10,000 Opens for two-year-olds – one for pacers and the other for trotters – were contested at the track on Tuesday night. The pace was won by the undefeated Waco Sassy Kid ($2.80, Nick Roland) in 1:58.4, while the trot was captured by the Jeffrey Ryan-owned and trained Miss Gracious ($5.40, Dean Magee), who is also undefeated.
Running Aces’ 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot wager currently has a carryover of $2,034.71. Running Aces’ next program of live racing is scheduled for Saturday (July 6, first post at 7:00 p.m. [CDT]).
