In front of a large, enthusiastic crowd both Show Runner and Armbro David were repeat winners in their respective open pacing divisions on Tuesday night at Running Aces.
Despite racing against older, more seasoned competition the three-year-old filly Show Runner (Tim Maier) captured the $8,500 Open for distaffers with a neck decision over Passion R Virginie (Jason Ryan) and Blazing Fury (Rick Magee) in 1:53.3. It was the third straight victory, second in open company, for the daughter of Little Steven owned by Denise Maier and Eileen Brodbar.
On the boys side, 10-year-old veteran Armbro David (John DeLong) managed to hold off Six Gun (Ryan) and Gold Deuce (Steve Wiseman) for his second straight triumph in the $9000 Open for males. Matthew Percy owns the lifetime winner of $330,000 and entrusts Don Sherman with the training duties.
Other impressive performances turned in by mares were a 1:53.2 score by RD IOU (Brandon Jenson) and a 1:53.4 tally by Fiftyonefifty (Nick Roland) in $5,000 and $4,000 conditioned races. Both mares are multiple winners in their recent outings and are expected to move up into the Mares Open ranks for their next start.
Mayfield Hanover (Ridge Warren) captured a $7,000 event for top conditioned horses and geldings, beating Silver Spir (Magee) and Firstclassalltheway (Luke Plano) in 1:52.3.
