Up Front Hotsey Upsets In Preferred

Despite being marooned on the outside of the starting gate in Friday’s $27,500 Preferred Trot, Up Front Hotsey turned in a big league clocking of 1:52.4 for Ohio partners Ed Mullinax and Frank Dettore

Ron Pierce hustled Up Front Hotsey to the quarter pole in :28.1 before giving way to Autumn Escapade. That foe threw down middle :56.2 speed before being overtaken by Falls For You, who sprinted to the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4 with Up Front Hotsey at her flank. Up Front Hotsey kicked in with a :27.3 final panel to post the 14-1 upset over the 6-5 favourite Buck I St Pat. Autumn Escapade held on to finish third.

Noel Daley conditions the six-year-old daughter of SJs Caviar-Dixieland Jazz, who won for the third time this season in 11 tries. She has managed to bank more than $54,000 in her 2009 campaign, and the lion’s share of Friday’s purse boosted her career earnings to $382,660.
