Big Mile For Blissful Smile

The wins have been a bit tough to come by this season for Blissful Smile, but she had no problem getting the job done in Friday’s $44,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred at Mohawk Racetrack for driver Mike Saftic

The Tony O’Sullivan trainee powered to the lead from post five for Saftic, who successfully chopped out all of the speed en route to a punishing effort clocked in 1:50.4. Blissful Smile laid down fractions of :26.2, :54.4 and 1:22.4 before sealing the deal with a :28-second final quarter. Pink Kangaroo, who was sent off as the 3-5 choice after tieing the track record last Saturday, was second and third went to Crystal Chris.

Bred by Walnut Hall Ltd. and owned by Emerald Highlands Farm of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Blissful Smile won for the second time this season in nine tries. She put together a 6-for-23 record last year. The $22,000 payday lifted her lifetime earnings to $456,348.
