Lady Cafe Au Lait delivered another dominant performance for her 10th straight win on Tuesday, July 28 as she demolished the aged pacing mare track record at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Marc Campbell sent her directly to the front with an early three-wide swoop in the $9,000 second division of the Aged Pacing Mares Series fourth leg. The mare produced fractions of :27, :55.4 and 1:25 before sprinting home in :27.1 to win by four lengths in 1:52.1. Windemere Saddy (Ken Murphy) followed throughout to finish second while Brokeandoutofgas (Gilles Barrieau) completed the triactor.
Lady Cafe Au Lait ($2.10) lowered the previous Summerside track record for aged pacing mares by a full second. The former 1:53.1 standard had been shared by Woodmere Skyroller, Share The Moment, Get Answers and Lady Cafe Au Lait herself. She matched that mile twice earlier this month, making Tuesday's effort her third straight track-record performance.
The four-year-old daughter of Big Jim-Lady Latte is trained by Earl Watts for owners Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I. and Matt and David Burke of Stratford, P.E.I. She is undefeated on P.E.I. since shipping in from Ontario in the spring and is now 12-for-15 this season. The most recent win brought Lady Cafe Au Lait's career tallies to 19 victories and $258,902 in earnings from 52 starts.
The outstanding effort from one of Watts' stable stars capped off a triple for the trainer on the 14-race program. His Stay Dreamy ($2.30) won the second race in 1:58.1 with driver Paul Langille before Ys Fancy Speed ($5) took the fourth in 1:59.2 in line to Marc Campbell and Windemere Skye completed the hat trick in the 12th. Watts now leads the standings at Summerside with 16 wins, one more than Jaycob Sweet. He is striking at a 36 per cent rate overall with a 48-for-132 record in 2026.
Trumps Girl ($4.90) captured the other $9,000 Aged Pacing Mares Series division in 1:53.3 for trainer David O’Brien and owner Tommy Collings of Mount Stewart, P.E.I.
Campbell moved Trumps Girl first-over from fifth past a :28 quarter, and the five-year-old daughter of Always B Miki-Wind Damage Blues advanced through :56.2 and 1:25 splits and overhauled pacesetter Redland Misspretty (Paul Langille) in deep-stretch to prevail by a neck. Rosetown Mary (Corey MacPherson) was third in the tightly grouped finish.
Trumps Girl is now six-for-21 this season with two victories in the series. She recorded her 15th career win on Tuesday and bumped up her bankroll to $164,522 in 79 starts.
Trainer Jennifer Doyle recorded win number 500 of her career with Bet On Evil ($7.10) in a 1:56.4 clocking in the seventh race for owner Shane Baglole of Cornwall, P.E.I.
