Wishuponastar Deo, trained by Susie Kerwood, won the $20,000 second leg of the Pure Ivory Series from post two in the field of 10 freshman trotting fillies on Tuesday, July 29 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Shimmering Hanover (Louis-Philippe Roy) left heftily from post nine and cut the mile, setting the tempo at every fraction in :28.3, :59.2 and 1:29. Wishuponastar Deo and driver Tyler Borth tracked the pacesetter's moves in the pocket trip, making her final move in the stretch to strike the win by three-quarters of a length in 1:57 over the favoured Shimmering Hanover. Calyx (Bob McClure) completed the ticket for show.
S&R Racing Stable, Kenneth Backer and Peter Hearty co-own the two-year-old daughter of Six Pack out of the Wishing Stone mare Wish I Was There. Wishuponastar Deo won her third career race in four starts with a new career mark to go along with her now $29,280 in lifetime earnings. She paid $19 to win.
