Driver Reg Gassien visited the winner's circle six times on the 10-race program Saturday, July 28 at Kawartha Downs.
Gassien started the card with three-straight wins. He took the opener, a $5,000 conditioned pace, with Gramps ($5.80) by popping pocket past the half and blowing to an open lead in progress to a 1:58.3 four-and-a-half length victory. In the next race Gassien wired the $5,000 conditioned trot field with Tlf Beware ($7.50) by three-and-a-half lengths in 2:01.3 and then won going wire to wire again in the following race, a $3,900 claiming pace, behind No Panic ($3.30), a four-and-three-quarter length winner in 1:58.4.
Winning wire to wire twice more, Gassien piloted May To For ($6.10) in a $4,200 conditioned pace and Oakrock Eldorado ($7.60) in a $4,200 conditioned pace to 1:55.2 and 1:56.1 wins respectively. Gassien also won the last, a $3,200 claiming pace, with Dragon Wave ($4.30) slipping from the pocket to a 1:57.3 victory.
Additionally, Kawartha Downs hosted ‘Kids Night’ on Saturday night, which was a hit with the capacity crowd which was on-hand. There was live music, a ‘petting zoo,’ ‘Razberry’ the clown, a bouncy castle, and draw prizes for the kids. It was a beautiful night and everyone that attended enjoyed themselves.
