Art I Special Wins Inverness Feature

Art I Special made a three-wide move at the third quarter pole and stormed home to win the $2,100 Johnny & Margaret Allan Ian Memorial Pace on Sunday afternoon at Inverness Raceway.

Driven by Mark MacQuarrie, Art I Special sat fourth while Mitchs Ceilidh (Alex MacNeil carved out fractions of :30, :59 and 1:28.4. At the third quarter mark, MacQuarrie sent the Artsplace gelding wide around the stalled Panacotta (Neil MacInnis) and kicked home in :28.4 to score the victory in 1:58 flat. All The Weapons (Katie Miller) finished one and a half lengths behind off a pocket trip while the pacesetter settled for third.

Fresh off a victory in the top class at Inverness last Wednesday, Art I Special paid $3.70 to win as the favourite. Redmond Doucet conditions the five-year-old gelding for owner Randy Copley of Inverness, N.S. The win was his seventh in 21 starts this year and 26th lifetime.
