On Sunday, the mile oval will host one $80,000 first round leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes, two $30,000 second leg divisions of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series and three $15,000 second round legs of the Kentucky Golden Rod Series on the 13-race card. All stakes contests feature freshman male trotters.
G O A T (Walner-This Dreams On Me) is the 2-1 morning line favourite in the field of 10 lining up for the sole Kentucky Sire Stakes event. The 2022 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale purchase sports a record of 1-0-1 in his brief two-start career with $53,000 in the bank. Owned by Douglas Overhiser, Glenn Holland, Jamie Durnberger-Smith and Louis Willinger, the colt will leave from post position seven in the seventh race. Atlee Bender will be holding the reins for conditioner Erv Miller.
On Monday, freshman filly trotters take centre stage with one $80,000 first round leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes, two $30,000 second legs of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series and three $15,000 second round divisions of the Kentucky Golden Rod Series.
Miss Dior (Six Pack-Sweet Thing) receives the nod here as the 7-2 morning line favourite in the field of 10. Trained by Jay Hochstetler, the filly will be steered by Peter Wrenn when she leaves from the rail in the final race on a 12-race card. She possesses a resume of 3-1-1-1, has earned $33,000 and has trotted in 1:55.3. Owned by Connie and Homer Hochstetler, Robert Buddig and Allen Schwartz, Miss Dior was second in the $100,000 Oak Grove Early Sire Stakes final for her age, sex and gait on July 4. She enters this event after breaking her maiden at Hoosier Park on July 18.
Freshman and sophomore filly trotters and pacers claim the spotlight on Tuesday. There will be two $80,000 first round leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes, three $30,000 of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series and four $15,000 second round legs of the Kentucky Golden Rod Series on the 13-race card.
Five three-year-old filly trotters clash in the first $80,000 division of the Kentucky Sire Stakes. Two of the contestants, If The Shoe Fits and Chulada, hail from the Tony Alagna barn.
If The Shoe Fits will be in rein to Andrew McCarthy in the first race. The duo will commence their mile from post position two. Owned by Alagna Racing and Brad Grant, the Father Patrick filly will be making the first start of her 2023 campaign.
Chulada and Dunn will start trotting from post position three. The daughter of What The Hill has collected two wins from eight starts this year. She is owned by Buckstone Land Livestock and has amassed $44,660 in purse money.
The second $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes division features two-year-old filly pacers. The field of five is led by Geocentric (Sweet Lou-Geometry), who is a perfect two-for-two for trainer Brian Brown. The filly will have the services of Tim Tetrick and drew post position one in the sixth race. Geocentric, a $55,000 purchase at the 2022 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, is owned by Milton Leeman, Alan Keith, James Stambaugh and Joe Sbrocco. Her granddam is champion See You At Peelers.
A $10,000 guaranteed Pick-4 (races seven through 10) will be offered in conjunction with the U.S. Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering program.
