The Eastern Quebec fair in Nouvelle hosted a pair of $1,200 eliminations for the Bay Derby De La Baie, an event which aims to invite horse owners from the Maritimes to experience harness racing in Quebec.
Ninoscredit brushed to a three-length victory in the first elimination. The nine-year-old Up The Credit gelding sat third while Spectrum Seelster set fractions of :28.3 and :57.4 before giving way to the Nathalie Migneault trainee. Ninoscredit cruised through the stretch to stop the clock in 1:58.4, besting Keystone Prestige while Spectrum Seelster faded to third and Shemaksmefelunreal checked in last.
Migneault co-owns Ninoscredit with Eric Dechamplain. He won his 30th race from 157 starts and has now earned $108,820.
Jaydens Place applied similar off-the-pace tactics to land a 1-1/2-length win in 1:59. Trainer-driver Michel Audet sat last with the nine-year-old Vintage Master gelding while Mickeymaksomespeed set a clip of :28, :58.1 and 1:28.4 on the lead. Audet then launched his charge coming for home to edge by Mickeymaksomspeed, who was placed third for interference on the far turn. Disneyman assumed second, while Twin B Fearless finished fourth.
Francois Morin owns Jaydens Place, a now 20-time winner from 165 starts. He has banked $239,049.
