Full Of Muscles made a name for himself last fall when he was the highest priced trotter sold at the 2019 London Selected Yearling Sale. The Muscle Mass colt was front and centre on Tuesday (July 28) at Woodbine Mohawk Park, as the $140,000 yearling purchase strutted his stuff during the morning qualifying session at the Campbellville, Ont. oval.
Chris Christoforou was in the bike behind Full Of Muscles, and the pair lined up in Post 5 for Race 2.
Christoforou opted for a patient approach with the Brad Maxwell trainee, as the bay colt was positioned fifth through the opening quarter (:31.1) and had made his way up to fourth by the time the leaders clicked off the opening half (1:02).
The action picked up in the third quarter of the mile, as the leader, Buckys Angel, was slugging it out with the first-up Zoes Choice on the turn. Neither one of the combatants were willing to give an inch past the three-quarters pole (1:31.2), which played in favour of Full Of Muscles, who was surveying the tilt from fourth.
The leaders continued to spar into the stretch, at which point Christoforou angled Full Of Muscles out wide and set his sights on the wire. Full Of Muscles was fresh and ready in the lane, and went on to tally the victory in 2:02.2 with minimal effort.
Full Of Muscles' Tuesday performance was the second qualifying effort of his career. He is owned by Farhi Standardbreds Corp, of London, Ont.
