Harness The Hope Night Raises $43K

Sock It Away was the star of the show on a special program featuring Harness The Hope Saturday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The Saturday card was a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer society of P.E.I. in support of breast cancer.

HP Rubis Joyce captured the first dash of the evening in a special field featuring five female horses with five females drivers as Ambyr Campbell steered the daughter of Perfect Union to a 1:58.4 win for trainer Blaine Baglole of Cornwall. Second went to Avid Yankee (Natasha Day) while Cougar Gal (Tammy MacKay) cut out the mile to finish third.

Sock It Away starred in the $3,100 Preferred Pace presented by McWade Racing and Bayfield Street Alumni, as the Reg MacPherson-owned pacer won in 1:54 from off-the-pace.

Marc Campbell was in the bike for trainer Kevin MacLean as Sock It Away recorded win number 30 of his career. Bugsy Maguire (Adam Merner) rallied for second with Rollwithitharry (Gilles Barrieau) racing well for third place on a night his fundraising efforts heavily supported.

The Harness The Hope night raised $43,068!

Corey MacPherson had three wins on the special card as ER Quinn won in 1:58.1 for Jeff Holmes of Orwell, Rockstar Drums was a 1:57.4 winner for Vaughan Doyle of Charlottetown and Spack Jarrow scored a 26-1 upset in 1:59.4 from the Raymond White of Belfast.
