Pacing Fillies Take Centre Stage In Dresden Prospect Series

Freshman and sophomore pacing fillies met at Dresden Raceway on Sunday (July 27) for the third round of the Prospect Series with Whiskey Blue Chip and Wicked Road taking the splits for the three-year-olds and Kosmic Krisp winning the sole split for two-year-olds. 

Whiskey Blue Chip ($2.10) won the first division for three-year-old pacing fillies, starting from post five in the field of five as the heavy favourite. Mario Baillargeon pointed the William McClure student forward and the Stag Party - Sunnynseventyfive filly responded, controlling the timer with panels in :29, :59.2, and 1:28.2 before cruising home to win in 1:57 by 3-1/4 lengths. Solitary Dancer (Garrett Rooney) was second over Betterdoubledown (Damian Maclellan).

McClure owns Whiskey Blue Chip as she notched her fifth win of the season and sixth career win. In 19 starts this year, the filly has banked $63,704 of her $79,439 career bankroll.

Wicked Road ($2.30) also took the front-end trip around the Dresden oval to win the second Prospect Series division for three-year-old pacing fillies. Anthony Haughan steered the Meg Crone filly through fractions in :29.4, 1:00 and 1:29.4 before winning by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:59.1 over Lydia Go (Rooney) and Kathmandu (Natasha Day).

Hutt Racing Stable owns Wicked Road, a daughter of McWicked - Ashleeswayrhighway, as she won her fourth race in nine starts on the year with $19,595 in the bank. 

In the lone division for freshman pacing fillies, Kosmic Krisp ($15.10) had to work out a trip as the trailer in post eight with Damian Maclellan in the seat for Herb Holland. Maclellan got away third with the daughter of McWicked - Krushed Apple through the opening fraction in :30.1, pulled first over en route to the 1:00.3 half and continued on the journey on the outside past the three-quarters in 1:30. Kosmic Krisp secured the lead at the top of the stretch and continued home to win by two lengths in 1:59. Stompa (Robert Doyle) was second and J M Ooh Lala (Rooney) was third.

Kosmic Krisp won her first race from two career starts for owner Hutt Racing Stable.
