Boys Turn moved from a conditioned claiming class to the Winners Over Pace at Northside Downs on Saturday, July 27 and made the journey a winning one for trainer and driver Lawrence Snow.
Revenant (Mark Pezzarello) took charge early and claimed control of the timer throughout the mile with splits in :29.1, 1:00.2 and 1:30. Q Ts Charlie (Jeremy Baker) lined up in the pocket spot and Boys Turn took back to third with favoured Daddys Eyes (Adam Lynk) breaking stride at the start in the field scratched down to four. En route to the half, Boys Turn tipped to the outside and raced the rest of the way overland. Revenant started to fade in the stretch, leaving Boys Turn and Q Ts Charlie to duel to the wire. Boys Turn kicked into another gear and fended off Q Ts Charlie for a one-length win in 2:00. Revenant finished third.
Boys Turn (Shadow Play-Bunny Dance) is an eight-year-old gelding owned by Snow and Henry Poswiata. He recorded his 30th career victory in 147 starts and now sports $143,439 in lifetime earnings. This year, he has put together a record of 6-1-2 in 10 starts, never missing the board and winning his last four straight starts. He paid $7.50 at 3-1 odds as the mile upset victor.
