Starting from the pylon post, Little Miss Miley protected position and refused to relinquish the lead in progress to a 1:59.4 victory in the $12,220 Phil Pinkney Memorial at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday night (July 27).
Driver Myles Heffernan Sr. sent the Stonebridge Terror filly to the lead and controlled the pace unchallenged through a :31.4 first quarter and to a 1:00.4 half. West River Glo pulled first over to press the pacesetter to three-quarters in 1:30.3 and crept closer coming off the final turn. Though Little Miss Miley dug in to the inside to win by three-quarter lengths at the beam with Stonebeachlily third and Kinda Like Royalty fourth.
Jackie Heffernan owns Little Miss Miley, a now two-time winner from 15 outings. The Myles Heffernan Jr. trainee has earned $12,138 and paid $4.30 to win.
Dontblvmejustwatch darted from near last off fast fractions to swoop the field and win the $1,700 Inverness Gathering Pace to close the card. The five-year-old Hes Watching gelding sat sixth as Rusty Riley battled with Euchred to a :28.4 first quarter before the latter settled coming for the stands first time. Hippyjohn then pulled off the pegs from fourth coming to a :56.2 half, but hastily retreated as Rusty Riley opened five lengths on his competition to three-quarters in 1:25.4. But driver Randy Getto revved Donblvmejustwatch up the backside and swung three wide while charging after the loose leader looping into the lane. He swiftly stepped by and drew clear to a 2-1/2-length win in 1:56. Rusty Riley held second, Eastcoast Invader finished third and J J Scarlett took fourth.
Randy Getto co-owns Donblvmejustwatch with Wayne Hardy and Susan MacSween. The Dana Getto trainee won his ninth race from 61 starts and pushed his earnings to $83,072. He trainee paid $18.70 to win.
