Driver Phil Hudon completed a sweep of the final three races on Sunday night's card at Georgian Downs aboard 10-1 shot Viper Select in the featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace.
Viper Select fought off Clic K (Anthony Haughan) through opening fractions of :26.4 and :54.3 before opening up three lengths en route to the third quarter station in 1:22.1. The Dauntless Bunny gelding then sauntered home to win by more than four lengths in 1:51.1. Mach Of Ballykeel (Jonathan Drury) rallied wide around the fading Clic K and came on for second, darting towards the pylons down the stretch to avoid the breaking pocket-sitter, Czar Seelster (Tyler Moore). Pouvoir Duharas (Paul MacKenzie) also had to change paths and inherited third-place as Czar Seelster was set back for causing interference while off-stride.
Viper Select is trained by Gerard Demers for owner Denis Guindon of Carleton Place, Ont. He earned his fifth and fastest win from 16 starts during his nine-year-old season and lifted his 2014 earnings to $19,425. The win was the 33rd lifetime for the pacer, who has banked $256,445 so far in his career.
The winner paid $23.80 for the 10-1 upset and completed a $100 "Hudon Daily Double."
