Driver Redmond Doucet was victorious the first and last races at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon with maiden-breaker Take The Chance and 32-time winner Salute.

Doucet, who hit the board in all six of his Sunday drives, kicked off the 10-race card by winning the maiden class with three-year-old filly Take The Chance in 2:02.1. The homebred daughter of Articulator won her sixth start in front-stepping fashion for local horseman Erland Campbell.

Doucet later won the $2,200 top class with his own trainee Salute, who prevailed from the pocket by half a length over Schooner and pacesetter Imbadimnationwide in 1:58.1. The nine-year-old Western Ideal gelding earned his third win in nine seasonal starts at Inverness for the Ruth Shannon Stable of Port Hawkesbury, N.S.

Driver Rod Gillis and trainer Don Beaton teamed up for two wins while Colin Kelly also had a driving double on the day.
