Driver Jim Morand drove GooGoo GaaGaa to secure first place and set a new 2:00.1 track record at Ocean Downs for two-year-old colts in the $25,000 Summer Showdown Maryland Sire Stakes Final on Wednesday

GooGoo GaaGaa, by Cams Rocket-Koras Trotter, is undefeated in three lifetime starts for trainer and owner Richard Hans of Westminster, Maryland.
“GooGoo GaaGaa is filled with potential," said Jim Morand. "This two-year-old colt has only raced three times and is currently undefeated and loves to trot.”
Driver Jim Morand has set two new track records at Ocean Downs in 2011. The second track record broken this year was by Tough Challenger (older trotting horse) in 1.57.2. Morand currently holds four track records at Ocean Downs.
In the $25,000 Summer Showdown Maryland Sire Stakes Final, Ross Wolfenden drove Brite Jet to victory and passed the wire in 1.59.3. Brite Jet, by Jet Pace—Brite Outlook, is trained by James Atkinson and owned by Carol and James Atkinson of Georgetown, Delaware.
The first leg of the Hal Belote Memorial Trotting Series for horses and geldings was won by Ranger Gus and driver John Wagner. The four-year-old Dukes Ranger-Payutuesday gelding istrained by D.W. Camac and owned by Susan Camac of Harrington, Deleware.
Jonathan Roberts drove Smile A Little to a 1.56.4 victory in the Keith Long Memorial Final Pacing Series for horses and geldings. Smile A Little, by I Am A Fool—Reimburse, is a three-year-old gelding with lifetime earnings of $89,915. Smile A Little is trained by John Bell and owned by Janet Ho of Markham, Ont.
Ocean Downs will feature the Great Pocomoke Fair Race on August 4, 2011. Ocean Downs hats, $25 Greene Turtle gift certificates, and passes to Deer Run Golf Course will be raffled off after every race.
