Another track record bit the dust at Alberta Downs on Monday, and this time around it was a two-year-old pacing filly grabbing the headlines
.
The Missing Sock, a daughter of As Promised-Cambest Lady, won her first lifetime start in 2:00 for driver Brandon Campbell and trainer Sanford Campbell – and that clocking shaved one-fifth of a second off the track record for two-year-old filly pacers. The former mark of 2:00.1 was established by Clintons Keepsake on July 18, 2010.
Campbell sent his charge to the early lead and she had the field lined up behind her through splits of :29.2, 1:02.2 and 1:32.2 before going into sprint mode and using a :27.3 final frame to halt the teletimer in 2:00. HF Georges Kiss rallied well only to come up a head short, and Wrangler Starlight was third best.
Allan Neurauter, who bred the youngster, co-owns her with partners Tony Lee of Edmonton and Debbie Campbell of Calgary, AB.
Also noteworthy from the Monday program was the hat trick performance turned in by the tandem of driver J. F. Gagne and trainer Lance Ward.
They clicked with Red Star Cowgirl (1:57.4) in Race 2, Cam Houston (1:56.2) in Race 3 and Outlawclassichrome (1:56.2) in Race 8.
