Action Packed Card Slated For Inverness Sunday

Inverness Raceway has an action packed program of racing scheduled on Sunday (July 28) afternoon with the Phil Pinkney Memorial Stakes headlining.

The Phil Pinkney Memorial races for two- and three-year-old trotters will take place as a special event at 12:15 p.m. as non-wagering races. Two-year-old trotters Majian Mystery (James Ripley), West River Jet (Kenny MacDonald), and Marcus Down Ridge (Clare MacDonald) will race for a purse of $12,780.

The three-year-old trotters race for a purse of $12,540 with Allstar Katrina (Brian MacPhee), Dusty Lane Maple (George Rennison), and Majian Rocket (James Ripley) lining up behind the gate in race two.

Racing action continues at 1 p.m. with 13 dashes on the betting card.

Races two and five will be the Phil Pinkney Memorial for three-year-old fillies. Race two has four entered for a purse of $14,440 as Elm Grove Support (Myles Heffernan), A Girl Named Tom (Paul Langille), Saulsbrook Fiesty (Redmond Doucette), and Waterford Girl (Andrew Campbell) take the gate.

Race five, also going for a $14,440 purse, has Fern Hill Indigo (Brodie MacPhee) as the morning line favourite. Eenymeenyminomoe ( Marc Campbell), Windemere Evaline (Clare MacDonald), Smilin In Heaven (Pooker McCallum), and Spinelli (Paul Langille) round out the field. 

Race 11 will see the best three-year-old pacing colts line up in an Atlantic Sires Stakes (ATSS) 'A' division going for a lucrative purse of $23,020. The morning line favourites will leave as post seven Tobins Chester (Jason Hughes) and post eight Merigo Magic (Adam Merner). The ATSS 'B' divisions will be contested in races seven and nine.

The $3,000 Johnny and Margaret Allan Ian Pace will take place in race 12 while race 13 is the $8,000 Inverness Invitational Pace.
