Trainer Gary McDonald came out firing right off the bat during Thursday’s card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and the wins just kept on coming for the veteran conditioner.

McDonald watched Ardyne Sportstar turn in a front-stepping triumph in a time of 1:56.2 in the opener, and stablemate Sports Scene gave McDonald the training double thanks to his come-from-behind tally in 1:56.3 in Race 3.

The three-bagger was achieved when Olivia V overcame late interference en route to capturing Race 5 in 1:56. All three of McDonald’s winners were guided to victory by driver Pascal Berube.

The three-win performance for McDonald pushed his yearly win total to 11 while his lifetime total climbed to 945. He’s watched his stable bank over $75,000 this season and more than $5 million to date.
