She Wore Red moved three wide into the final turn and rolled home to score in a career-best 1:53.2 — her second straight victory — in Tuesday’s $22,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
She Wore Red was fourth when Tony Hall moved her behind the first-over cover of Princess Pablano. When that cover stalled, the four-year-old daughter of Yankee Glide-Tori Ann brushed widest through the lane to defeat the hard-used Smokinmombo by two lengths. Whata Donato earned show.
John Melsheimer trains She Word Red, who extended her lifetime bankroll to $156,575, for Joyce McClelland.
Hall collected five wins — including a pair for trainer Jimmie Ritter — on the 14-race card while Aaron Merriman fashioned a triple.
