Windsun Kenda held off the late-closers to post a 14-1 upset in the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap Pace at Georgian Downs on Saturday night.

Leaving from post six, driver Alfie Carroll pointed Windsun Kenda towards the lead and she worked her way past Drivingthedragon N after the :27.3 opening quarter and reached the half in :55.3. As she raced to three-quarters in 1:25.1, Shellyssilvermoon fanned wide off fading cover with Russian Kisses even wider. Drivingthedragon N was able to slip out of the pocket turning for home with a ground-saving Windsong Glamorous poised to split horses down the stretch. However, Windsun Kenda managed to hold on by a neck in the photo finish, winning in 1:54.4. Russian Kisses finished second over favourite Windsong Glamorous, with Drivingthedragon N right there in fourth.

Windsun Kenda paid $30.50 to win. The five-year-old daughter of No Pan Intended races from the Victor Puddy stable. She won her first race of the year back in January and 17 starts later she has now added back-to-back wins at Georgian Downs to her seasonal record for Ottawa-based owners Gordon McDonald and Christopher Boland.
