The CBC has reported that two separate groups in Nova Scotia are at odds as to which should operate racing at Truro Raceway.

The article explains that the Municipality of the County of Colchester may purchase the track, but that a group of local horsepeople is saying that it should become the new owners.

The report states that the group of local horsepeople, which includes Brent McGrath, wants to run the track. Its proposed plan would call for the board of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition, which currently runs the track, to resign.

"There's a group of us that are experienced businesspeople and I've managed the racetrack here in the past," said McGrath, who later added, "They (the current board) had their chance (to operate the track) and it hasn't worked and they wanted to close the place and I really didn't want to work with a group of people that thought the place needed to be closed."

"I don't think it's fair, at this point, to ask the board to resign," said Bob Taylor, who is the mayor of the Municipality of the County of Colchester as well as the county's representative on the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition's board.
