The staff, horsemen and community of Truro Raceway have a solid reputation for coming together to help each other out. It’s been demonstrated time and time again throughout the years, especially during times of adversity
or when one of the community members needed a lift. This time it was the track itself that needed the 'lift' --- a face lift that is.
On Saturday July 16, members of the newly-formed Standardbred Canada Youth Council joined forces with horsemen and women, management, and staff of Truro Raceway to volunteer their time to paint the track perimeter fence. With Atlantic Grand Circuit Week coming up, it was felt that the fence needed to be spruced up. Donations from United Tote, Horse Player Interactive, Clarence Farm Services Ltd., and Labatt were used to purchase the paint for the fences and the folks from Wilson's Fuel and their staff also came on board to spruce up the water truck with a fresh coat of paint and fancy decals. After all the work was done, the volunteers enjoyed a relaxing BBQ with new friends.
The management of Truro Raceway sincerely appreciates everyone’s efforts and this project has acted as a catalyst with many horse owners and staff offering to volunteer on a continuing basis for other projects.
The members of the east coast chapter of the SC Youth Council definitely deserve a 'Well Done.'
