Since arriving in Cape Breton earlier this year, only two things have been able to stop Alritealritealrite from winning — and one of those impediments literally stopped him from racing.
Broken equipment in his local debut wasn't a factor for the five-year-old son of Lazarus N-Hot Spot Hanover. That first win on June 6 was followed by three more scores. The Heather Hawkins trainee then ran into the local buzzsaw by the name of Mappos Lion. Alritealritealrite finished a solid second to that bearcat as the second choice in wagering where they faced off.
The next start for Alritealritealrite was nearly disasterous as Kountry Diamond nearly fell to the track in front of him, but driver Brett Leblanc kept the pacer out of trouble. He was pulled up and did not finish.
Alritealritealrite returned to the races on July 20, wiring his top class foes in 1:58.4. Five days out from that test, he returned to Northside and returned to the winner's circle after another wire-to-wire effort.
Kevin Bailey once again engineered the winning trip for Alritealritealrite, powering the 4-5 choice to the top from post five and taking no prisoners from there. After fractions of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:28.2, Alritealritealrite rambled home in :28.4 for the 1:57.1 tally. Pocket sitter Revenant (Shawn Lynk) stayed for second, 3-1/2 lengths in arrears, with Ranked Contender (Ardon Mofford) another length back to complete the triactor ticket.
Trained by Heather Hawkins, Alritealritealrite is owned by Terri Morrison of Marion Bridge, N.S., Irwin Claener of New Waterford, N.S., Kirk MacRae of Ben Eoin, N.S., and Angus MacEachern of Howie Center, N.S. He has boasts nine wins — six since his move to the east coast — and $195,138 in earnings.
Alritealritealrite provided Hawkins with her third winner of the afternoon, connecting earlier with Thunder Alley (1:56.3; $13.20) in the second race and Chocolate Swirl (1:57.3; $4.60) in the sixth. Now with 12 local wins on the season, Hawkins sits second in the Northside trainer standings behind Warren MacKinnon, whose stable sports 16 wins in 2026.
