Racing action at the 2019 Lake County Fair wrapped up on Wednesday (July 24) and the highlight was a pair of $2,000 divisions of the Jerome T. Osborne Memorial Signature Series pace.

In the first division, Steve Schoeffel steered Cronos to victory for trainer Dan Walski and Walski Stables LLC. The six-year-old son of Art Colony moved second-over at the five-eighths pole and made good use of his cover to win in 1:59.2. American Schnapps was second and Trillionaire finished third. The win pushed Cronos’ career earnings over the $100,000 mark.

The second split was captured by Midnight Shark and Kurt Sugg. The pair led at every call and posted a 1:58 win. They finished one length better than Royaltyhasarrived. Oneisalonelynumber finished third. Sugg trains the six-year-old Shadyshark Hanover gelding for Ashley Dunn of Polk, Ohio.

Tye Loy won the richest race on the card, the $12,900 two-year-old colt trot, with Ataboy Star, a Dontyouforgetit gelding that he also owns and trains. The 2:05.4 tally was Ataboy Star’s second win from four career starts.
