Trot Insider has learned that stallion Imperial Angus 3,1:58.1f ($101,372) passed away early this morning (Thursday, July 25) in Quebec at the age of 18.

The son of Garland Lobell had been sick for the past couple of days, but he took a turn for the worse late Wednesday night. Imperial Angus passed away from natural causes at roughly 2:00 a.m.

From 20 career races, the brown horse notched 10 wins, four second-place finishes and one third, good for more than $101,000 in purse earnings. He took his mark of 1:58.1f over Hippodrome de Montreal at age three.

Imperial Angus sired 139 offspring during his career in the breeding shed. Some of his most notable progeny are Frostys Haybaler, Canbec Dynamo, Jason Will and the late C Le Noir.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of Imperial Angus.
